Mission & History
Indian Hills Fire Rescue Mission Statement
At Indian Hills Fire Rescue, our mission is to protect the Indian Hills community and those who live, work and travel within the borders of the Indian Hills Fire Protection District. IHFR members are dedicated to providing a safe, secure environment for the community by minimizing the impact of fires, natural and/or human-caused disasters, hazardous conditions, and personal emergencies. The department is dedicated to the protection of life, property and the environment through a commitment to excellence in emergency response, training, public education, fire prevention, and the efficient utilization of resources.
Department History
The Indian Hills Fire Department started in the 1920s with a series of small wooden sheds stocked with buckets and shovels for volunteers to use during a fire. Since the Department's purchase of its first fire truck in 1950, the residents of Indian Hills have always had an active and efficient volunteer organization that has evolved over the years to respond to incidents and emergencies of all types. Our medical personnel, firefighters and first responders train hard to help those in need.
